Green Bay

As we approach the mid-point of the NFL season, the elite teams are becoming clearer by the week. In Week 7, several clubs that had NFL betting pundits scratching their heads due to recent poor performances came through and re-established themselves as Super Bowl contenders. Week 8 is shaping up in much the same way, as several big games are on the docket that should further separate the top teams from the rest of the pack on the NFL standings. There’s none bigger than an epic clash between two division leaders in Kansas City and Green Bay on Sunday Night Football.

2019 NFL Week 8 Best Odds and Matchups

Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday, 8:20 PM ET)

So begins the ultimate test for the 5-2 (4-3 ATS) Kansas City Chiefs: life without Patrick Mahomes. While the MVP hasn’t officially been ruled out for Sunday night, it’s expected that Mahomes will miss 3 to 6 weeks following a dislocated kneecap. Matt Moore is likely to get the start, and as a result, the Packers (6-1 SU, 5-2 ATS) sit as 5-point road favourites for this important matchup.

Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings (Thursday, 8:20 PM ET)

After a tough start to the season, the 5-2 (SU and ATS) Minnesota Vikings have won three straight games and will face the lowly 1-6 (2-5 ATS) Redskins on Thursday night. Vikes QB Kirk Cousins has been a big part of that resurgence and he’ll be up against a Washington defence that ranks in the bottom half of the league. The NFL betting odds have Minnesota as 16.5-point favourites at home.

Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons (Sunday, 1 PM ET)

Coming off of a disappointing loss to the Ravens in Week 7, Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks (5-2 SU, 3-4 ATS) will look to get back on track against the 1-6 (SU and ATS) Falcons, who may be without QB Matt Ryan (ankle). Atlanta just traded away WR Mohamed Sanu to the New England Patriots, so we’re expecting an angry Seattle team to have a statement game in Atlanta. The odds for this game are off the board until Ryan’s status is confirmed.

Cincinnati Bengals at Los Angeles Rams (Sunday, 1 PM ET)

The alarm bells were sounding in LA after the Rams dropped three straight prior to their 37-10 victory over the Falcons in Week 7. They’ll have a chance to move to 5-3 against the winless Bengals and keep their playoff hopes alive. The odds on NFL Sunday favour the Rams by 13.5 points.

Philadelphia Eagles at Buffalo Bills (Sunday, 1 PM ET)

It’s been a long time since the Buffalo Bills were 5-1 SU (4-2 ATS), but with strong play from QB Josh Allen, the Bills look like legitimate contenders for fans who bet on the NFL. They’ll have a good test in Week 8 against a Philadelphia Eagles team that’s coming off of a tough loss to the Cowboys. As a result, a slim 2-point spread favours the Bills at home with a total of 43.5 points.

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts (Sunday, 1 PM ET)

The feel-good Indianapolis Colts (4-2 SU, 4-1-1 ATS) are winners of two straight and lead the AFC South. They’ve managed to win games despite having a plus 5-point differential on the season. The Colts are expected to handle the offensively-challenged Broncos (2-5 SU, 3-4 ATS) as they’re listed as 6.5-point favourites on the NFL lines, with a total of 43.5.

Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints (Sunday, 1 PM ET)

All signs point to Drew Brees making his return to the New Orleans Saints (6-1 SU, 5-2 ATS) in Week 8 against Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals (3-3-1 SU, 5-2 ATS). The Cards have won three straight games, but they’ll be in tough against one of the more complete teams in the NFL. The odds will be posted once Brees’ status is confirmed.

Carolina Panthers at San Francisco 49ers (Sunday, 4:05 PM ET)

After coming out of the “mud bowl” as 9-0 winners last week, the 49ers are one of two teams in the league with perfect records on the season (4-2 ATS). San Fran’s defence has emerged as elite in the league, having surrendered just 10 points in their previous three games combined. As a result, they’re 6-point home favourites with a low 41.5 total.

Oakland Raiders at Houston Texans (Sunday, 4:25 PM ET)

Both Oakland and Houston need a win badly after dropping important Week 7 contests, but only one will get it. Deshaun Watson and the Texans are 7-point favourites at NRG Stadium.

Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots (Sunday, 4:25 PM ET)

With the acquisition of Mohamed Sanu, the Patriots’ receiving corps just became a little deeper. New England (7-0 SU, 5-2 ATS) is looking to run the table this season, and NFL odds experts are expecting their unbeaten streak to stay alive against the Browns (2-4 SU and ATS). The defending champs are 13.5 home favourites.
