What are American odds?

American odds

Moneyline odds are favoured by American bookmakers and therefore are often referred to as American odds. With this format, the odds are quoted using either a positive or a negative number. The largest negative number indicates the favourite, and the odds show how much money you'll have to risk to win $100. A positive number indicates the underdog, and the odds show how much money you'll win on a $100 wager. When the odds are listed as EVEN, you'll win exactly what you wager. A standard line, where the odds are -110 for both teams, indicates that neither team is favoured to win.

Example: Cleveland Browns (+180) vs. New England Patriots (-220)

If you bet on the Patriots, you'll have to risk $220 to win $100. However, if you bet on the Browns, you stand to win $180 for every $100 you wager. If the final score of the game is tied, the wager will be graded a "Push" and your money will be refunded.

In Bodog Sportsbook, you'll see American odds attached to point spreads, moneylines, totals, futures and some sports and entertainment props.
