The Carolina Panthers came off a bye in Week 8 and finally looked like the team that won the NFC last season. Their success could be attributed to their week of rest, or the fact that they played against the Arizona Cardinals – the team they beat in the NFC Championship Game last season. Regardless of the reason, the Panthers looked sharp and focused. That win helped them move up the ranks of the Super Bowl futures market.

Carolina Panthers
This Week’s Super Bowl Odds: +2800
Last Week: +6600

The Carolina Panthers are just 2-5 SU and ATS, but they aren’t far from contention. They played their best game of the season on Sunday in a dominating 30-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, making it the second time this season that the defense gave up 20 points or less. The Carolina pass rush, which has struggled all season long, sacked Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer eight times. With a visit to Los Angeles to face the 3-4 Rams, followed by home games against the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints, the Panthers will have a chance to build momentum.

Denver Broncos
This Week’s Super Bowl Odds: +1400
Last Week: +2000

The Broncos lost back-to-back games in Week 5 and 6, causing concern that the defending Super Bowl champs were starting to trail off. However, they’ve followed up the losses with consecutive wins in the last two weeks and have ascended up the board. The defense has again led the way; they’re third in the league in yards per game allowed (301.3), fourth in points (130), and their 26 sacks tie the league lead. They have a big first-place showdown on the road this week when they visit the Oakland Raiders.

Moving On Down

Buffalo Bills
Last Week’s Super Bowl Odds: +5000
This Week: +7500

The Bills started the season on a two-game losing streak, then followed it up with a four-game winning streak and are now back on another two-game losing streak. Their current streak could extend as they visit the Seattle Seahawks (No. 1 in the NFC West) on Monday.

Detroit Lions
Last Week’s Super Bowl Odds: +6600
This Week: +10000

The Lions took a big tumble after losing 20-13 in Houston to the Texans. They’re 4-4 SU and ATS and are just a half-game out of the playoffs. There’s a lot of skepticism surrounding this team. Their four wins have come by a total of 11 points.

Updated Super Bowl Futures Top Three

3. Dallas Cowboys (+1000): The Cowboys have broken into the top three with their overtime win against the Philadelphia Eagles. They’re 6-1 SU and ATS.
