Sha Tin hosts races from September to June, including high stakes events like the Hong Kong Derby,
Queen Elizabeth II Cup and the Champions Mile. The Hong Kong International Races are also held here; the week-long event is made up of the four most prestigious races in Hong Kong and offers a purse of $83 million HKD (approximately $14 million CAD). The unique venue has the first ever retractable roof above the parade ring and also made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the world’s longest Diamond Vision Television screen in 2003.
