It’s a fascinating week for NFL bettors. There are a lot of close contests, which will make for an exciting week of NFL action. Eight games feature a spread of 3.5 points or less, including the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons showdown, which has a 3-point spread as we go to press.

Game of the Week

Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons

Favourite: Falcons -3

The Green Bay Packers are 4-2 after beating the Chicago Bears 26-10 last Thursday night, but Aaron Rodgers had to throw 56 times because of massive injuries to the Green Bay running backs. Eddie Lacy is out after ankle surgery, so it’ll probably be another busy week for Rodgers, who threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns against the Bears.

The Atlanta Falcons are 4-3 after a 33-30 overtime loss to the San Diego Chargers. Despite the loss, they're still atop the NFC South. The Packers have dominated the Atlanta-Green Bay rivalry lately, going 4-1 SU (four straight wins) in their last five against Atlanta, who’ve covered in three of those games.

Game with the Biggest Spread

New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills

Favourite: Patriots -6.5

The 6-1 Patriots beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-16 last Sunday, but you'd think it would have been easier with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger out. New England should have rolled through that game, but they were a little sloppy with two turnovers.

As for the Buffalo Bills, they’re now 4-3 after losing 28-25 in Miami in disheartening fashion. They were leading by 11 late in the third quarter, but couldn't close it out. Buffalo's big issue was an inability to stop the run. The Dolphins rushed for 256 yards, including 214 yards from running back Jay Ajayi. While New England is known as a pass-first team, they enter the week sixth in rushing, and their nine rushing touchdowns are fourth-most in the NFL.

The 6-1 Pats should have revenge on their minds because their only loss this season came in Week 4 to Buffalo. The Pats were shut out at Gillette Stadium for the first time. That was the final game of Tom Brady’s suspension, and he’s been incredible since returning, so expect him and the Patriots to be focused and fired up for this one.

Game with the Smallest Spread

Oakland Raiders @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Favourite: Pick

Following a 33-16 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Oakland Raiders are tied atop the AFC West with the Denver Broncos at 5-2. The Raiders have now won all four of their road games, but find themselves as a road dog in Tampa Bay this week.

The Buccaneers are coming off a 34-17 win in San Francisco, in which they ran for 249 yards as a team. That opened up the passing game for quarterback Jameis Winston, who tossed for three touchdowns. The Bucs should be eager to face the Raiders’ defense, which is dead-last in yards allowed and 22nd in points permitted per game (25.6).
