After an exciting and eventful Week 1 of the college football season, it’s time to get ready for Week 2. If that was even possible, this week looks even more promising than the inaugural week with four matchups that feature two ranked teams. Let’s get right to it.

Oklahoma Sooners @ Ohio State Buckeyes (-7.5)

The Sooners taking on the Buckeyes at the Horseshoe this Saturday should be a treat. These are two fantastic teams, ranked number five and two respectively, both featuring high-octane offenses that can suffocate opposing defenses with their strength and skill.

The Sooners are possibly starting the best quarterback in all of college football – Baker Mayfield. The Austin, Texas phenom finished third in Heisman voting a season ago and completed a jaw dropping 19 passes out of 20 attempts for 329 yards and three touchdowns against UTEP last week.

With that being said, they’re not playing UTEP this week. The Buckeyes are primed for a national title this season in the eyes of many experts. Getting off to a sluggish start vs Indiana in Week 1, Urban Meyer’s squad finished strong in a 49-21 win behind impressive performances by senior quarterback JT Barrett (304 passing yards, 3 TDs) and true freshman running back JK Dobbins (181 rushing yards) after being down 14-6. Buckle up for this one, ladies and gentlemen.

Auburn Tigers @ Clemson Tigers (-6)

After dismantling Cupcake State at home, both Auburn and Clemson will have to gear up for their Week 2 matchup at Death Valley as their opponents this week are in a completely different class. The defending national champion and third ranked Clemson did not seem to skip a beat after losing last year’s Heisman Trophy runner-up Deshaun Watson. Kelly Bryant stepped in and was as relaxed as he could be, passing for 236 yards and rushing for another 77 yards in a 56-3 rout of Kent State. Similarly, Auburn, ranked 13th, did not have any issues against Georgia Southern, who managed only 78 total yards of offense in the entire game. This battle of the tigers promises to be a great one.

Stanford Cardinal @ USC Trojans (-6)

Even though this is only the second week, there’s already talk that the winner of the Stanford-USC matchup at the Coliseum will feature in the four-team playoff to decide the college football national champion. With that being said, USC struggled with a fine-but-not-great Western Michigan team in their season debut. The much-hyped USC quarterback Sam Darnold had a pedestrian start, throwing two picks and rushing for his only score after being considered the Heisman favorite in the preseason by many. The unimpressive 49-31 win dropped the Trojans from number four to six in the rankings. The 14th ranked Stanford Cardinal, who bullied Rice in Week 1, will be a challenging test for USC as they play a very physical style of football. This late West Coast tilt should meet, and likely exceed, expectations.
