1. Worlds Collide. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a 40-year-old undefeated boxer (49-0, 26 KOs) who decided to come out of retirement for a big payday. The 29-year-old Conor McGregor (21-3, 18 KOs) is on top of the MMA world, as the Lightweight title holder, but has not fought in a professional boxing match since he was 16. The odds mirror this tale of unlikely foes: Mayweather is –550, while McGregor is +375 for the victory.

2. Vegas, baby. The “Fight of the Century” is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 26, 2017.

3. Defence. Mayweather has a reputation for being one of the best defensive fighters of all time. His patented “shoulder roll” has given opponents fits throughout his career, and has forced challengers to settle for body shots, while Mayweather counterpunches.

4. Offence. McGregor is an aggressive MMA fighter, and the Irishman will likely go all out and try to fulfill his prediction of knocking Mayweather out “Inside Four Rounds”. McGregor is +600 to knock out Mayweather within four rounds, and -1200 for any other result.

5. Weight Matters. The fight will take place at 154 pounds. McGregor is the larger of two fighters, and he most recently fought at 155 pounds against Eddie Alvarez in November, 2016. Mayweather is a welterweight, and his last fight was at 146 pounds against Andre Berto in September, 2015.

6. History in the Making. With a victory over McGregor, Floyd Mayweather Jr. would surpass Rocky Marciano’s undefeated 49-0 record. If victorious, Mayweather would finish with one more victory than Marciano, at 50-0, and would sit atop the list of undefeated boxers.

7. PPV +/-. Few fights in history have experienced hype like Mayweather vs. McGregor. For some interesting props play, you can bet on the over/under for PPV purchases. Currently, over 4.99 million buys is favoured at –260, while the under is at +180.

8. Big Money. When all is said and done, both fighters (Mayweather Promotions and McGregor Promotions) will walk away with a boatload of cash. We’re talking setting up your family for generations type of money. Early estimates suggest that Mayweather will bring home north of $100 million, while McGregor is set to earn around $75 million. And that’s not even including Pay-Per-View revenue.
