With the NFL regular season kick-off days away, it’s time to take a look at the most prestigious individual award in the game: MVP. Ten out of the past 11 NFL MVP winners have been quarterbacks, so it’s not surprising that this season’s expectations are the same. Six quarterbacks top the favourites list before we see another position (running back Todd Gurley at +2000). Here are the names with the best 2018 NFL MVP odds

Aaron Rodgers +500 NFL MVP Odds

Looking for his third MVP award and his first since 2014 is Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. An extremely efficient performer, Rodgers boasts the highest quarterback passer rating of all time at 103.8 among qualified passers, and it’s not particularly close (Russell Wilson is second at 98.8).

The Packers’ franchise player is looking to make a roaring return to the gridiron after playing only seven games last season due to a fractured collarbone. Fresh off a new contract extension worth $134 million over four years, Rodgers must be licking his chops to prove he’s worth every single penny. He’s the NFL MVP betting odds favourite at +500.

Carson Wentz +700 NFL MVP Odds

Carson Wentz is another quarterback making a comeback in 2018 after being forced out of contests last season. The Eagles’ passer played just 13 games in 2017 prior to being forced out of the season, which included a Super Bowl winning run, due to a torn ACL.

Unfortunately for Wentz and the city of Philadelphia, the Pro Bowler has yet to be cleared for contact by physicians. If and when he gets cleared, he’s a real threat for the NFL MVP at +700 odds.

Tom Brady +850 NFL MVP Odds

Considered by many experts to be the best football player of all time, Tom Brady’s odds to win the NFL MVP award this season are +850 as we go to press. The five-time Super Bowl champion took home the award last season after leading the league with 4,577 passing yards, so if he simply maintains that performance through 2018, he’ll make a strong case for the MVP this season as well.

Deshaun Watson +1500 NFL MVP Odds

Speaking of quarterbacks who were injured in 2017, the Texans’ superstar playmaker Deshaun Watson looks set to terrify opposing defenses in the upcoming season should he stay healthy. The Clemson product was having an outstanding rookie season last year with a 103.0 passer rating in seven tilts before suffering a torn ACL, which put an end to his outstanding rookie campaign. Look for Watson to make some noise this season. At +1500, he’s a value pick if you believe he has a shot at the award.
