New England Patriots (17/2): A standard ho-hum offseason went downhill quickly for the Pats when word got out that superstar quarterback Tom Brady would be suspended for the first four games of the season. Consequently, the Patriots aren’t the clear AFC favourite for the first time in ages. Nonetheless, they’re still the defending champions and Brady will be back, so the odds still have them claiming the AFC East when all is said and done.

Buffalo Bills (33/1): A franchise-altering offseason has left the Bills with a brash new coach, a new superstar running back and, most of all, optimism. With Rex Ryan at the helm and LeSean McCoy running the ball, the Bills should be in playoff contention all season but the play of their quarterbacks will likely determine whether they make it or not.

Miami Dolphins (33/1): Having reeled free agency’s biggest fish in Ndamukong Suh and traded for talented, up-and-coming receiver Kenny Stills, the Dolphins look like a good bet to outperform their preseason odds. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is surrounded by more talent than ever before so if there’s a year the Dolphins go deep in the playoffs, this may be it.

New York Jets (50/1): New coach, same old Jets. Having added Leonard Williams, the defense looks scarier than ever but the offense is still a work-in-progress. New arrival Brandon Marshall should help but the Jets will still struggle to score and should finish a comfortable fourth in the AFC East.
